Gonna explore that avenue - But we will still need to get ours back to working condition so we can go play away from home.

Plus, of course, the stern supported trailers are rare .. meaning a higher resale value for the boat

Its not cheap refurbishing a trailer... I had to do an old one of mine which was something like 100 quid, although that included getting an Engineering shop to make a custom acle...

My tip would be to not do it on the cheap. Go to Towsure and buy new suspension units complete with bearings and grease!

I just bought a pair for a triple trailer and they were £75 for the pair. Wheels are only about £15 each so you can upgrade for about £100

Alternatively you can get second hand which may be as bad as the ones you take off. Old tyres are also usually perished - check the side walls.

Hiya,

After spending an hour going over the fireballs road trailer ... All I can say is "Damn, How did it survive Yarmouth to here! "

Basically:

Bearings are almost shot ( and have started disintegrating )
The shaft has a small patch of rust on it
One axle has split for 6 inches of its legnth ( Yes, split! ) and looks like a bar of solid rust.
Suspension is locked almost solid ( rusted I guess )

Poking the metal parts of the wheels was quite squishy .. Then I realised I was poking THROUGH rust into the innertubes!

Now, The problem.

I need the trailer done before fed week. Doesn't leave me much time.

Can anyone recomend anywhere to go for axles and road wheels? I can fit it all myself, its just sourcing decent quality kit that won't rust the first time it crosses the bridge over to Hayling Island. ( I'm also on a stupidly tight budget ... so if anyone is scrapping an old road base - keep the axles + wheels for me!! )

Thanks Muchly!

James
