Thanks guys, I had completely forgotten about the Buff and to be honest didn't know that they were that versatile. I may be a little long in the tooth to get away with one down at the sailing club without a shedload of micky taking, but when on holiday ..............

p.s. you really need sunglasses with a buff, no peak to shield your eyes.  You might try a baseball cap again but just tighten it as suggested, or maybe a bucket hat, i use one when it rains and it's great: clicky

i sail in a baseball cap tied to my BA by string like scooby simon. gets knocked off by the kiker in the fireball occaisonally, no problems in the laser though. otherwise just use LOTS of suncream.

You could get a Buff.... they can be arranged into many a different array of headgear.

I sail in a cap in the summer (tied to my harness via a bit of bstrinf).

 

I use it as an "ease off indicator" - If it blows off downwind, it's time to ease off before the rudders "let go".
