Tbh i'd recomend waiting untill you can keep the boat off the water for a few weeks. I took quite a lot of the old paint off the hull before i repainted her and it could be a bit of a 'mare to take it right down to the wood. I think i still ahve the paint so if you want to keep the colour scheme the same i'll bring it to the nats for you

Don't worry about colour. Varnish is lighter than paint.

Definantly try and make the nationals if you can possibly afford to... Its going to be a cracking event at a top location and it sounds like we'll get a few older boats down too.

Are you desperate to change the colour scheme? Ive always thought the red/black with the wooden decks looks great, Though Ive not had a chance to see her in real life.

RE: Trap wires, Ive got some 2.5mm D12... it was recomended by some 14 guys and im told its fully up to the job as long as you keep an eye on wear around the chafing areas but looks rediculously thin to me.... We'll soon find out!

Ok guys it looks like it's all systems go this weekend for the repairs on the the old beast and seeing as i have to remove a large section of paint from the botttom of the hull and there  also the paint has rubbed off  on the front section of the trolley i wanted so ideas as to colours and or schemes.  Also asome advice as to what paints to use please bear in mind that she is wooden.  I'm going to strip her down to the bare wood and i might redo the varnish if i have time.

follow this link to see past and present incarnation (sorry don't know how to make it a proper link

Want to get her ready for the Nationals but can't really afford the time off as having become self employed and just had weeks holiday so the aim is for the 28th and the Anglesey off shore dinghy race as it's a bit of an annual day trip for our club.

P.S. need some vectran for trapeze ropes as current is like bungee cord, crew went out on wire and sank straight underwater much to my amesement!
