I'm supposing that all the methods suggested so far will effectively remove the proofing from a poly-cotton cover, so it'll need Fabsil-ing afterwards (if you've some left over from the spinnaker!)?

Its surprising how good a job a jetwash will do without the Muc-Off.  I think I've seen jetwashers for sale in B&Q for as little as £20!  Be warned pressure is not the only parameter important in jetwashers - if you are going to do a large area like a patio you also need plenty of flow-rate, otherwise it'll take you ages.

PS jetwashers are not subject to hose pipe bans

Muck off and a scrubbing brush - unbeatable.

Unfortunately all the plastic came off my el cheapo laser 1 cover - anyone know a source of paint-on PVC?

We have Muck Off! cleaned our boat with it on Sunday, thought about trying it on the cover but was not so sure. It's great stuff!
I will give a go now. Thanks!
Hope you had a good Easter BNS

My boat cover was slimy with algae and bird poo too (but of the white variety). I used the jetwash to wet the entire cover, then sprayed it with Muc-Off, left it for a bit and jetwashed it thoroughly.

Worked a treat.

I also use Muc-Off on boats and bicycles. Brilliant stuff. You'd get it in Halfords, on various bike maintenance sites on the Net and half price from Rooster Sailing at the Dinghy Show (last purchase of the day - don't want to carry 5 litres of the stuff for too long!)
