if you're not into beer i agree the 24 hr race could be a bit pointless ... i remember it back in its pole-climbing heyday of the late 80s ... best placing (with RCC, not L&L) was a 13th when it blew an overnight gale, otherwise we were usually well down in the bottom half of the fleet, but that never mattered ... there was a year when lightning put a hole in the marquee with evening do was in full swing inside

the Laser will be a real leveller ... a great chance for Y&Y forumites to really show off their ability (or put their money where their mouth is  )

There must be literally thousands of people who've been to the Southport 24hr race who have really, really enjoyed it - including me.

I did it a couple of times years ago but didn't really enjoy it much prefered the Himley Hall 24hr race and it's for Charity the R.N.L.I. no less mind you it's much less competative just a bit of fun basically see how far you can drift in 24hr!

Mind you you get a Certificate ( with miles covered) and a Pennant i seem to recall seeing one certificate with 80 odd miles (is that good or bad who knows)  but it was allways a laugh more of a mega social really

I’ve just had an update from West Lancs that Pheonix Marine and Rooster Sailing are sponsoring the event. In addition Steve Cockerill is bringing a team!!

hey, tim, which club are you? if you're entering a team, post your sail number and i'll look out for you ... by the level of non-interest it should be easy enough to pick you out!
