Politically correctness

Rick- have you ever asked any gipos, pikkies, chavs, teepees, lezzers, homos, bloaters, mongs, spassers, darkies, wogs, krauts, pakis, trannies, lop-jobs, hoes and/or bitches if they think it's a good idea?  Or did you just poll that socially diverse group of individiuals in the MPS fleet?  

How right you are worthy, but I have to object on the point above!

When I lived in Acton, W London I was called 'chalkie' on a number of occasions- I'm assuming the brovers (who were talking to me in jest), were referring to my lily-white frame as it entered the gym jacuzzi; either that or I have more than a passing resemblence for Rick Stein's long haired jack russell by the same name.... point is, you can't call it a 'chalk board' either as that would assume the education aid was another example systematic discrimination against ethnic minorities; you know somehow serrepticiously focusing attention at caucasian children only.

I was going to suggest we could refer to it as a classboard- we have a classroom after all; but then I realised that would be prejudiced against the chavier elements of the school...  how can they use a 'classboard' if they have no class to speak of?

Then I thought we could call it a 'Teachers Board'- it makes sense, there's no reference to pupils's genders, ethnicities, variable sexual orientations... it clearly refers back to the educator not the educatee... but some quick PC research indicated this too, is unacceptable.  According the Chair of the Association of Teaching With Assistant Teachers ( A.TWAT for short) this is in fact discriminiatory against unqualified teachers and classroom assistants- they too, rely on the teaching aid equally as much as someone with PGCE who couldn't decide what to do after university...

This is a PC minefield... what can we call a blackboard nowadays?  As I haven't read The Guardian for about 3 years or so, I'll shut up before I offend someone, but I really would quite like to know.

Were my skin actually a different colour to that which it is (a nicely windburnt shade of pink most of the time) , I'd actually be offended that some white middle class had taken the decision to change the name of a functional item because it contains the word black. That in itself implies that there is something sensitive about the word black, and we should thus avoid it.
