Madagascar has never won an Olympic medal, they have even sent athletes to the Winter Olympics.

We are somewhat myopic with our appreciation craft from other cultures. Obviously the Scandies built some amazing boats but they had abundant high quality material. The sailors of the Indian and Pacific Oceans did awesome things with very limited resources and creativity.

When are the Olympics in Madagascar?

That photo is great. Some amazing boats out there in the wider world.

Thanks for the clarification.

Interesting, I had presumed that provided a country kept basic rule of one entry per class they could send anyone. Theoretically could not Mr average club sailor from U.K. gain Madagascan citizenship learn to tie a bowline and represent Madagascar.

Or obviously could an Olympic champion do the same?

My only reference point is the Eddie Eagle movie

The real useless knot for slippery rope is the rolling hitch. I expect the sailor from Madagascar would rightly never have bothered to learn it.

My best ever capsize was tacking an IC, somehow in walking behind the back of the sail tied a clove hitch around the end of boom.
