The cruising clubs often have no premesis, but meet in a pub or village hall, so they can socialise and occasionally run workshops or have a speaker give a talk. But their main function is to bring crews and helms together!

Are you after racing or cruising experience? There are clubs for both types, and some can provide a sort of match-making service. Have a look for your nearest one if you haven't tried this already.

I thought this may be the best place to find someone who would allow me to sail with them to gain some experience of coastal sailing in a 30ft + yacht.
I know it,s a long shot but I'm sure someone out there can remember learning the ropes and how invaluable hands on experience is.
I am 53 and have had 20 odd motor boats over the years but now I a sailing boat. I live in Hertford but can travel to Essex, Kent or the South coast.
I am going to take some courses but I just want to get some experience first so If you feel you can give me the chance to experience sailing on your yacht I would very much appreciate offer.
