I think MMA may stick to rotomould?  (methyl methacrylate)

on a polyester boat the gel coat can be considered to be resin really it’s chemically bonded to the laminate.

yes, epoxy ones will have problems I think.

Nothing really sticks structurally to rotor mould.

For a given value of stick then yes. But don't ask me what the most suitable adhesive would be or how strong it would be!

I'd be more worried about it tearing the gelcoat off.

Dan - yes it depends on lots of factors to make sure it works. Mainly minmising peel. If the skins on the laminate are too thin they will rotate and peel off the core If the pad is too thick on the edges there will be too much peel in the edges and it will unzip. Peel is the problem not shear stress, as there shoud be enough there for mosr dinghy blocks. I test loads of adheisves and am always amazed at the loads and the tiny bond areas - lots of this is based around our perception of whether it is better to stick things on or bolt them on which is sometimes wrong.

Not watched the video, but glue is not great in tension, not sure of values but you also need to consider ripping thin laminates off cores in dinghy world as well.
Adhesive joints always fail first in peel so you have to avoid that scenario.
Like is said above, most epoxies can do 36N/mm2 in shear which even with a safety factor of 2, gives a tonne per square inch!! That’s a lot!!
Most importantly tho this is predicated on clean well prepared surfaces ie all paint or gel rambled from both, 120g keying, chemically clean, immaculately mixed glue.
Also, in shear you aren’t ripping thin laminates off cores. Although if I was going for as aggressively concentrated a load as a tonne per square inch even in shear I’d not want that on a dinghy ish single skin substrate of say 300gsm. I’d have a staggered local reinforcement to suit.

Plenty of this sort of stuff on my boat.

If it goes wrong, you can grind it off and install a new one.

A good piece on diy. The variations are endless

Biggest issue won't be the use of them, but rather how you replace them. Not sure I'd want to be using a grinder right next to the deck of my boat and hoping I don't slip
Everything I say is my opinion, honest
