Couldn't you tie it down to a GP14 or something. That should stop it moving.

Well they have moved the boat to a slightly more sheltered position down at the back of the boat park about as far from the water as you can be, where I was before and someone who I shall buy a beer next time we meet has tied it down securely. The problem was the position it was in doesn't have a tie down on the starboard side anyway, so I've now found a concrete millstone and rolled it into place I guess I shall have to bury it underground to really secure it. This spot is closer to the water but in a bit more of an exposed position, so I'm not sure what I'll do just yet, I'd also like to nettle proof the berth, nothing more annoying than getting nettle stings on bare feet and legs, think I might try and get some of that astroturf stuff and lay that in when I dig in the wieght.

Both my current inland clubs have chains to tie the boats too, and back in the day (50 years ago) we had stakes into the ground. I do tie my boats down when they are next to the caravan (to spiral ground anchors), it would be foolish not to on a headland overlooking Holyhead bay.......

I know they will have done the right thing, I'm just winding them back up, they're good folk down that club and in truth I am a bit of a liability, we don't have to tie boats down at Hythe, so I've never really got into the habit.

I have however managed to get it into a couple of third places this winter series, until I got trussed back up into the dry suit and last time i used it, I bust the tiller extension so had to pack it up and leave early to rig about trying to find another, silly me, it should have been tied down, it usually is tied down, I've got bits of rope and there are things to tie it to, just didn't what with all the fuss with the busted rear end.
