Dunno, if the manhandling can be managed safely there's an awful lot to be said for working on a boat on her side. Access is so much easier - and kinder on the back.

I've just done both daggerboard casings on the catamaran I'm restoring. I sanded down the casings first with sandpaper wrapped around a batten. I then used a small roller on a long handle from Wickes and Timberseal PS epoxy. As the boat was upside down I got some runs on the decks but none inside the cases. Seems to have worked very well.

I need to recoat the inside of the centreboard case on my wooden Osprey, just repair the wear of 20 years of centreboard movement. There are no gouges or water ingress but I want to get it sorted before this happens. What is the best coating? Is it best to apply with the boat on its side to avoid runs or will I be ok (with radiator roller) to do it without runs with the boat upright and case surface vertical?
