Those market things that pilots have on their thighs are just pockets with hole in the front. A white piece of card or a template can be put in with a sheet of clear plastic over the top. You then write on the clear plastic with a non-permanent marker. Normal notes taken are things like qnh and qfe (pressure settings for determining altitude).

Masking tape stick it to the sleeve of your dry suit, round the mark first, notice it's blown away, have no idea where to go next.

Dry suits need those marker things the pilots have on their upper thighs.

Whatever you write on the boat you can't see it, it's on the other tack, there's water on your glasses..

For our home club, a map of the lake showing the fixed marks; laminated in plastic with a small golf marker pen (because it can be fitted with a lanyard).

For the Solo, strip of electrical tape (white) plus marker pen (keep in halyard bag).

I tried the non-sticky notepads, I found 2 problems. The wipe off was far too easy, and they will also float off if they get wet (spray, capsize )

On my Lightning there is a hatch cover on the bulwark. I write the course on a strip of masking tape....not that it matters because there are always plenty of boats to follow.........

Laminate a blank sheet of paperand tape it on. If its somewhere you're not going to rub against it use a whiteboard pen, otherwise a China graph on a bit of string. Just make sure the China graph isn't damp for the week between races.
