I saw an 18ft skiff sailing on an Advert on ITV or C4 for Australia! Looked pretty cool. Also saw a pico on a Centre Parks advert!!
Needs to sail more...

My sailing vocab is better in English than it is in French, because I've only ever sailed in England, with English speakers. However, the efforts I'm making to learn the correct terms in French seem to be a little pointless, as demonstrated in that "Team Nissan Hobie surfing video" in La Tranche. The French helm explains their capsize: "Le bateau, il a gybé tout seul et on s'est retrouvé dans la mousse."

Gybé......... Why bother....

I always get a little excited when watersports world comes on but then you see that it is just full of rubbish.

Thanks for the tip on ch 435.  Nice to see some sailing on TV!

However, you'd have thought that bearing in mind the cost of making a TV programme, they might just the script checked by a sailor first!  Just sat through a painful programme about the Copa del Rey 2004, translated from Spanish to English, and it included such gems as...

"At the end of the first close hauled, Caixagalicia was ahead...."

"All of the top rudders were at the regatta..."

"...and they were the first boat to cross the arrival line"

"It became a monotypical regatta...in other words you needed a bit of luck!"

"The boat has a very good compensation" (you mean handicap I take it?)

Dear oh dear...

There's a brilliant new TV series about boat Renovation and sailing on
Discovery Real Time at 9pm on Wednesdays. You need dig tv or sky, it's
presented by Tom Cunliffe and it's a bit like Grand Designs for boats. I wuld
highly recommend it.

Dave.
