Had a couple of lovely family holidays and my honeymoon in the area. One of my best memories was netting for small fish in the outflow stream which is only usually around 18 inches deep.....

For those of you that have been to Ullswater, Pooley Bridge was swept away with the force of the water. Just goes to show the force of water.

I've just been giving myself nightmares wondering what happens to a thoroughly tied down boat if the water gets 4 feet deep... Must remember to leave a hatch cover off as well as the bungs open... I suspect it would do a lot less harm if the boat flooded and drained again.

Pictures show water up to the railings of the balcony which must be at least 12ft above the ground!
Given the size of Ullswater, that's a heck of a lot of extra water and thoughts are with not only the club but also the local residents, neighbouring campsite and villagers. May the insurance companies pay out without hassle. Edited by patj - 08 Dec 15 at 8:52pm |

Terribly sad for this fantastic club.
I'm hoping they're back up & in action asap. |

Tide has come in again, reminiscent of 2009. Thankfully I've not heard of anyone on site last night when it happened. Facebook page will keep anyone interested up to date. For those who know the place well, the 1700s built bridge at Pooly Bridge has collapsed. Thoughts to those in the village.
