They also issued a proceeds of crime order against him so I think assets can be sold or charges put against any property he might own/be on the deeds for.

The courts will give him every opportunity to build a psychological profile, bereavement etc, they will hope for an excuse not to jail him, (loss of reputation a major punishment on it's own), probably a community punishment.

Some peoples behavior is very strange. A local theater near to me appointed a new accountant a few years ago and with no more ado he nicked tens of thousands of quid. The way he did it was asking for detection and he was caught within a few months. He seemed to have a death wish?
