Nationals at Weston in July. (on the sea).

It is under discussion whether a proper 'inland' inlands would be more popular.

15 boats, that seems quite good! Bytes are at Weston for Nationals in July. It raises the never ending topic of how to get boats racing at National events. We have the Byte Inlands at Cardiff next weekend but how many entries will there be? There are plenty of boats out there and there are plenty of lightweights, male, female, youth, adult who sail them, but will they travel? Racing is fierce and the location is ideal but how many will we see? At our club all our Supernova sailors wish they carried less lard so that they could mix it in a Byte. We have five sailing regularly.

If you have access to a Byte or if there is one languishing at your club send it down to Cardiff for the Inland Championships this weekend for some great mixed sex racing.

Was offered a boat, so spent Saturday doing the Weta Nationals. Could only do a day, but great effort to get 15 boats at Weston. 20, gusting 25 knots made it a pretty interesting first race. Totally different to anything else, but fast, don't need to hike, so if your knees are knackered its a fun boat. Always amazed they haven't done better in the uk, they go upwind fine and are lots of fun reaching and offwind. Was lying 2nd until the jib parted from the Halyard on the rather old sail.....dang

But, if you are not blinkered, don't want to hike, like speed, fancy some cruising and something your kids would think is cool to be on, then there are really not too many alternatives to it and its a fun boat.

Thanks to the organisers and Weston for hosting
