A week or two sailing in Oz with an amazing fleet like that, who wouldn't like a go, I certainly would, although I'd "settle" for the med, or Caribbean instead ...

I'll take the positive with that too David. Yes, they are paid to sail, but the moth is a part time play boat for them. And I'd do it too if In were able.

That's burst my bubble. I wanted to take the positive that ours must be the only sport where you could buy a boat, practice (albeit quite a lot) bimble, and go off and compete against the very best sailors in the world, who were competing in an event because it was such a good craik.

and in the middle of all those sponsored Olympians and AC sailors in the top 20 are two old men with a heritage in Windsurfer One Designs.
 PS - does anyone know the deal with Tom Slingsby's drops? He's carrying three 80th places but has dropped a 5th and 27th??? Can you drop 2 qualifying races but just one final?

To be realistic, the top half of the Moth worlds reads like a who's who of sponsored sailors, wooping it up in sunnier climes while the rest of us shiver our ar$es off back home

But the only proper racing is in them (which will be a surprise to the new Int Moth and 14 world champs) so the handicaps don't matter. |
