I'm not sure what you're saying there Merlin.......does that mean if someone makes an sexist comment that other folk aren't allowed to pull them up about it?

And in return, explain that sexism, or any other 'ism', is open to various interpretation and crucuially, context.

I was not suggesting sexism should be tolerated.

It is an administrator's job to deal with unsuitable forum comments. When a member points out another member's inappropriate behaviour, the outcome is likely to be an argument that spirals out of control, and achieves nothing productive, just bad feeling between those people. (And anyone else reading it will get bored/frustrated.)

By all means alert an administrator when you see comments you believe should be looked into. But attempting to deal with the transgressor yourself will not achieve a happy outcome for yourself or for other members.

Additionally, remember the guideline "do not feed the troll" because in some situations the inappropriate comments were made deliberately to trigger a pointless spat.

(These are general guidelines: I'm not referring to specific behaviour on this thread.)

FOM the movie would be the best sailing film ever, it is true.

Trouble is, thinking up who would play who verges in my mind from insulting to far too nice.

I mean, Nick Frost would have to be in it, but who would he play?

Would Winging it be played by Sigourney Weaver?

Jack Sparrow would have to be played by Jonny Depp, of course, and Mark J by Harry Shearer.

Indeed. Not like filming Howard's Way in England. Did anyone ever spot continuity or sailing errors in that?
