It will be a condition of entry, not a boat on boat protest matter. And goodness knows the rewards for sponsors are sparse enough in this sport. If you start saying that the sponsors shouldn't get their advertising displayed because its a junior event what you end up with is no sponsors for junior events. Personally I'd rather do without the sponsors and have an event without the bells and whistles the sponsorship dollar is usually spent on, but I'm aware I'm in a minority. |

Streuth, you'll need a lorry to carry everything suggested here! Duck tape, a water bottle and a sense of adventure is all you need.
And anyone who protests someone (especially, but not just, a child) for having a boat name where a sponsors name ought to be should be dsq'd for lacking a sense of fun and perspective. |

If it's regatta fleet, I'm certain they won't mind if you stuck the event sponsor next to the name.

I'm not familiar with all the latest stuff in this area, but can one readily get a self adhesive material that could be stuck over her boat name and peeled off after the event?

Yeah, don't ruin anything on your boat until you absolutely have to.

That's possibly strictly true but making a 10 year old peel her boat name off seems a little pety... Might be worth playing dumb on that one, i doubt anyone would protest her.

I'd stick it next to the mast somewhere. Alternatively, I'm pretty sure you can just write straight onto the hull of the terra with a chinagraph pencil.
Not sure about the specific rules for that event, but I'd probably shift it just to be safe. |

I have used electrical tape to write course notes on but now use a waxy pencil thing and write straight onto the deck. Went to this method after hearing of Fireball keeners with wind variation notes, shift intervals and all sorts covering their decks. I think the generic name is a chinagraph, mine is branded as made by Q-CONNECT.

Thanks for all your advice! I had better get shopping for extra layers, spray paint etc! I like the laminated a4 paper.. where would you stick it to a tera though? at home we write the course on electrical tape but she knows all the buoy numbers so its easier. A diagram would be good but perhaps a5 might fit. I am taking my friends son aswell, who is doing the nssa this year for the first time so he should have a little experience by then and might have some ideas.
Her boat name is on the front of her boat, I guess I need to remove this beforehand? apparently the front metre has to be clear for advertising purposes?

I took my little bro to the NSSA last year up at Bass, I would echo comments said here.
The "Did you have fun?" was always the first question I asked him and all the other Club sailors in our group when I greeted them with their trolleys. The fun part is more important than the results. taking part in each race improves their sailing and they want to do more. As prep for the boat, laminate an A4 bit of paper, then take chinograph pencils to draw the course on. Make sure you both understand the course so you can identify the race area before launching. Lastly, take part in all the social activities that are offered, even if its just going along to watch, it helps you both get to know others |
