I have just had a look at the other thread, I have had that issue in the past on an old oppie. I did the manual 'get your lips round it and be quick with the lid' technique. Tasted like sh*t but it worked ok. The current system I am having problems with is really good (when the valves don't fall off!) |

What could possibly go wrong?

Hi Moo - the repair is relatively simple. What has happened is that the valve on the buoyancy bag came detached from the rubber tube. Nothing is broken so all I am going to do is glue it back in with a sufficient amount of glue to ensure an airtight seal.

Dougal, I am interested to know why you having to do this repair as I am currently having buoyancy bag issues. See my recent thread under "Repairs and Maintenance" |

Also just softening the end of the tube using hot water might make it give enough to stuff the valve back in and it will seal up fine...I think that is how they are done from new, I don't recall seeing glue when taking them out in the past.

Thanks - it was the lack of flexibility in araldite that was concerning me.

I would say some kind of contact glue would be best, thixofix or similar for that kind of thing (something with give, araldite tends to be solid and might fail).

A quick question - I need to glue the plastic valve back on to the rubber/plastic/pvc(?) pipe on a buoyancy bag. Normally I fix anything on a boat with araldite, gaffer tape and a Swiss army knife - will araldite work for this? Thanks.
