Mate you could have sailed badly at home for free
I've had no complaints so far about my execution of the "himlick manoeuvre" .....well not from anyone who has survived
Meanwhile back to the buoyancy bag problem. |

Not happened yet - at least for that reason. There is very little danger of the screw top getting as far as your stomach as it is a good inch or more across. I've always been more concerned about choking but a quick bit of tongue work usually sorts that out. I believe that you can also unscrew the whole valve to get at the flap but I've found the fitting up too tight when I've attempted it. |

Try putting the screw top in your mouth when you blow it up. When bag is full, use your tongue to move the top into place before you take your mouth away.

I would normally, unfortunately the valve is in a slightly awkward place, so by the time I move my head out the way to get the cap on it has lost some air. clearly I need to work a bit harder on my hand mouth co-ordination. ooo errr missus.
Mind you yesterday when I took the cover off the boat it was so hot what air was in it had expanded to a quite satisfactory level. That's the answer: Hot Air. So where's Blue One when you need him?

I've always blown them up 'manually'. Even without the return flap working it's always been ok as you can get enough volume in from your lungs and breathe in quickly enough that you don't lose much (If that makes sense...)

Can't believe I have to spend beer tokens on a new bag just because a flap won't do what is supposed to.😬

Is it possible to fix these valves when they start letting out the air you are pumping in?
And if so, how? |
