Oh ye of little knowledge, it applies to all disciplines, so the mountain biking world champions (both XC and downhill), BMX, track all get to- in fact, are required to- wear the rainbow jersey.

Aaaahhhhhh.... that's why....

What size numbers do I need to get, and where's the placement regs please Ruscoe?

Standard numbers laser size are fine, not sure there is any rule regarding placement.  I stick them above second batten.

Finn Gold Cup winners and Olympic champions are entitled to use a gold class insignia, although off the top of my head I don't think I've ever seen it.

You tend to see it more on Stars than anything else in the pictures I've seen.

Contenders can do it as well, not that I have ever seen it used.

Countries that have won the world cup put a star on their football strip.

AIUI actually putting a gold star on your star isn't that common, as it singles you out from the crowd. Not a clever thing to do on a competitive start line.

....did not a well known 'convenience food' retailer once allow those with the greatest judged proficiency in 'service' to sport gold stars above their name badges?

perhaps I could paint little marker bouys down one side of my cockpit to denote the number of marks I've belted while not paying sufficient attention (or allowing enough room) over the years?
