Heard of this on from sources on the south coast, the story being that Ben Ainslie's introduction was the smokescreen to hang the improved performance on!
There were several instances where NZ were rising and falling on their foils where Oracle was rock steady, and of course at the start where NZ staggered sideways in a gust that didn't affect Oracle.
Don't know enough about foiling really to comment, is it possible to hide an automatic system with such public TV exposure.
Have to say there were some unexplained happenings?
Or is that normal?

I think the interest from non-sailor’s has been pretty significant.  I’ve be banging on about the AC at work since the first race which was met with the usual shrug of the shoulders at first.  But as I persevered with educating\boring them over the last few weeks I think a few are genuinely interested.

Most of the office watched the last race, and the day before I even did 10 mins on the white board in my weekly team meeting about race tactics and Q&A answering eye wateringly stupid questions about general sailing.  Granted I chair the meeting and it was probably more interesting that the project update I usually deliver, but they seemed pretty keen J

A bunch of aussies with a northern lead singer, drafted in. Pretty close to reality, if we can count Jimmy Spithill as lead guitar? Forgotten where BA was born, but think it was in the north?

I can't help but think it appropriate that a team with an Aussie skipper, Aussie design leader, Aussie coach and Aussie co-tactician walked in to pick up the prize to the sound of an Aussie song!

LOL LOL

(Although I'm not meaning to downplay the input of Sir Ben, sundry Kiwis and the US gurus like Tom Speer).

That awards ceremony - Good grief - Ant & Dec - all is forgiven

Someone must have great sense of homour having the winning team walking on to AC-DC's "Back in Black"!
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Putting the parochialsim aside, it's the lead story on BBC Sport. That's pretty signficant.

I've just put an article online that talks about this a bit - take a look at http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/172492/Why-there-needs-to-be-a-nationality-rule
