fixed. Basically, no-one cried "but what does this mean for airtravel?" when they raced a man in a wing suit, or "what does this mean for walking" when they raced against parkour guys.

Thing is though, in the other races it was presenter 1 Vs other, this was presenter 1 Vs other and presenter 2. This meant the commentary was first hand, and not always showing sailing best side.

I thought it was good to show that sailing wasnt slow and boring.
At least non sailors would now have heard of the americas cup, and if its on TV they will say, 'saw one of them on top gear' unaware that was an AC45 not an AC72, small technicality, but its a start.
Thanks
Jamie

Why did they put a pillock like James May on an AC45? He just whined and rolled around on the trampoline like someone with practically no motor function. I'm surprised Ben Ainslie didn't chuck him over the side and tell him to man up.

I'm sure most people would have realized that it was sailing's equivelent of the Paris-Dakar rally, compared to what we mainly do as a track day or what the common perception used to be of people sippy champers whilst leaning on a red Farrari.

It looked amazing, i would love to of been in James Mays position.  Albeit It looked a little full on.  Not sure it would of done sailing much harm, it certainly helped pull the sport out of the deck shoe and smock wearing hoorah henry perception that most of my mates have.

I'm not surprised - nice one AC, bringing sailing to the people...  Thumbs Down

That was the worst bit of pulicity for sailing ever. It was very wet, cold, rough and James May was seasick. Then finally throwing him in the sea with his drysuit full of air just looked plain dangerous.
