Seemed to be rather less closing time drinks receptions than last year- and the booze sponsorship of the exhibitors party was replaced with a bar in the Palm Court that seemed incapable...

I liked the Finn!  I loved the OK, and I liked the red moth.  I also liked the deck of the kestrel and the osprey, though whether I'd be so keen in bright sunlight is another matter.  I met lovely Russ on the D1 stand and talked about a test sail.  I met up with all my fellow wood botherers and set the world to rights.

Same old same old really, but good fun.  The best bit is without doubt meeting up with all my old sailing mates, though nowadays we tend to compare injuries rather than results..
the same, but different...

Surely the most sensible thing you have ever posted Mr Fuller.

It then started to get messy, not very good at actually getting the contents of the bottle into their faces Finn sailors, at least it didn't look that way with their full frontal foaming shirts..

How surprising - Finn sailors are not known for missing out on the lager and pies.  Imagine what their nutrition costs are if there is significant loss as ullage!

Ah, my mistake. No you missed out on the champagne next door when they Christened Thunder Road the boat, some woman/girl came and unveiled it and they all started jumping around, taking pictures, I guess she was some sort of sailing sleb, and we were about to wander off when that unmistakeable sound that cannot be ignored in any circumstance ever, occurred, the pop of a champagne cork. They didn't tell me there was champagne! I was the guy chatting to Jon Hammond when you graced the d-one stand with your presence. We had the chat about you often regretting what you've posted ;)

Went down to the dinghy show... long old drive because of traffic...
Straight  to the cherub stands to look at the two new masterpieces which I have been following! Then had a look around a various other things... including the numerous fireballs and solo's. Looked at many mirrors and have been self persuaded to restore our own mirror!

Great day out and will probably be returning next year!

It was a pleasure to finally shake your hand Mr Fuller, and I have to say all the rumours were true.... you are a short arse!

Rodney showed me around the Icon which looked understated but superb, and I had a good old chinwag with the d-one crew.

I also had a natter with Jon Eskdale on the sailwave stand about lead mine handicaps.

The boat that caught my attention the most was actually Clive Everests Cherub, closely followed by the decks on the Hartley Osprey and Kestrel.

Was that the OK? I left a very hot cup of T on it to see if it would leave a ring. LOL

Sorry I missed your Graeme - my feet now turn from the walking but I thought the show was fantastic. I hope you approve of our Concours winner - it's not just wood, it's restored 22 year old wood with holes fixed with offcuts from the original wood. You'd have loved it! LOL

I'll be there all day tomorrow for those who are about it would be great to catch up.
