You'll find wire cutters in each powerboat next to the first aid kit... won't you?

but it is very unlikely that you will get a leg tied in a tight knot with wire, wheras it is more likely with dyneema.

Odd really as I'd have though rope was more safe if you wanted to cut free someone in an entrapment situation. Much easier to cut 3mm of rope and find wire cutters ....

Rope trapeze lines got banned very early on, remember it happening when I was sailing my first one (c. 2000?). Time flies...

We use Hertzog 3mm dyneema on our trapeze wires, and almost everywhere else for that matter, is so useful.
But in answer to the OP's question- Yes. Even if it may still be strong enough it will really ruin your session if it snaps, so you may aswell replace it early on (like once every season) and use the rope somewhere else less critical.

Vectran lines are good for weight, but wire is easier for travelling as you run less risks of getting a running knot and spending twenty minutes removing the enamel from your teeth freeing the bloody thing up.

The relevant part is C9.6 in the link below.

Dyneema is a poor choice for trapeze lines. It has far too much give. You need vectran.

Yep, has been in effect since the class started I believe. There is a minimum amount of wire then the option of a small amount of rope for adjust-ability and then the handle and cleat.
