has it gone into production then?  I think it's a smart looking boat... makes life a lot easier than trying to get on with someone in a 29er and it's far nicer looking than the Farr 3.7.

Doesn't look like they learned any lessons from that other disaster does it?

390 long, less than 7.5sq mtr main, sounds like a racing sailboard's specs, until to get to the bit where instead of weighing 18kgs it's 60kgs.

I guess the OK was designed as a Finn trainer, and the 29er pretty much as a 49er trainer, so it makes sense to introduce a boat where you can learn the skills for a MPS without so much power. Not that I'm planning to...

Anyone looked up what sorts of crew weights they are talking about for it now? At one point 50kgs was being bandied about, I think, which would be far too light

a) why water down the market for what is, IMO, a fine product in the MPS?
b) Farr 4.7 is, to me, a far more individual craft and shouldn't be included in any comparison with this, which is a fine craft by the looks of things, and from a very good pedigree

I'm sure it is, but the Farr 3.7 looked a little short for a trap boat, and apparently goes down the mine quite easily.  LOL

Because a MPS is best sailed with at least 80kg on board. Yes I know there are sailors of 65kg or so sailing it but they are exceptional sailors with well practiced technique.

This boat is for 50 to 75kg who may not want to invest the time in a MPS. Plus when things go wrong it is better to have a boat you can handle with your weight rather than someting that is too heavy.

Good on Joachim for persisting with this little project.

I'd say this will grow the MPS market, with teens learning the skills in this, and so moving on when they get bigger, rather than learning in a Radial and then seeing it all as too big a leap, so sticking to more traditional boats. Might not happen so much in the UK, but on the European lakes I can see it happening.

I think this boat is exactly what alot of folk are looking for... Although I think the MPS is a terrific boat and fantastic design/build I found it quite a handful for me is alot of wind and having something I wasn't so light in like this scaled down version looks spot on.
I really hope it hits the market some time.....

Looks like a nice bit of kit for small people; all up weight of 55kgs seems nice & light to manage on the shore. That's a lot less than a Laser which is around the 70kg mark?

If I was given the option of that or a Radial a few (cough) years a ago I would have loved that ...
