I thought I'd start a thread for the discussion of Landyachting.
It's something I tried ummm... 20 years ago and got into last year again.
It's a fantastic sport where all ages and sexes can race on equal terms. With speeds exceeding 60 mph.

Class 5
Class 3
Standart

are the most regularly sailed classes.

The Class 5 & Class 3 yachts being a box rule development classes and the Standart being one design.

I've only heard of it down in the SW

Yes Royston has a club. Also there is a set up in Kent. Although not much of a club.

Round One - British Series. 4th/5th/6th March

The first of the scheduled six 2011 BFSLYC British Series Land-yachting Regattas will be held this coming weekend the 5/6th March at Brean Land-yacht Club, Weston Super-Mare. The Regatta is open to all Class 3, Class 5 and Standart yachts. Practice day Friday the 4th of March, with sailing permitted from 12 noon, providing flags and signs are displayed on the beach. Signing on will start from 10 am Saturday. Entry fee £23. There will also be an evening meal on Saturday evening.

Brean Land-yachting Club welcomes anyone interested in this very fast ( speeds in excess of 60 mph are achievable ) and dynamic type of sailing to come down and spectate over the weekend. As long as the weather gods do there job you are sure to experience a fantastic spectacle.

Thanks for the info.  I've always fancied trying it down at Brean.  The beach looks great for it

I believe there's some land yachting done at Camber Sands. Although a quick google didn't give much info.
