Who's off work or snowed in? Any stories to share?

We've got 3 feet of snow here, and it doesn't look like anyone has even attempted to clear the roads this morning. My journey home that normally take 25-30 minutes took over three hours last night, and ended with me abandoning the car and walking the last two miles!
Can't see me getting it back any time soon...

Cambridgeshire (at least, Cambridge and the southern corner) is fine. No disruption, roads are pretty much normal, after yesterday a lot more paths and pavements are clear, trains were all running OK today- no problems.

Can't get onto the road here in Epsom, Surrey. Last night on the way home it took 45 minutes to drive half a mile at one stage. We're theoretically on a gritting route, but a low priority one. No sign of the gritter so far.

Nothing happening in Reading, Berks nor anything exciting of note on my cycles across from London Paddington to Southwark this morning other than some frosty leaves in Hyde Park.

Snow, we had 1 cm yesterday in West London, Hillingdon way.

Today its all gone, and working as normal. School I work in had a fair few phone calls asking if we were open, suprisingly yes as the roads have no snow and you can walk too.

Drove from Hitchin to a village near Grafham today and there was no snow to write home about at all but the radio made it sound like the rest of country either side of me was in chaos.

Hastings got a good 4-5 inches overnight, not enough to excite Caddy. Enough to cause some problems getting about if you don't live on the main road.

Forecast for Sunday looks a bit warmer so still the possibility of a sail.

Not much here in north Cambs, ice is more the problem as everything freezes overnight. The road outside my house is a skating rink but the main roads are all fine (those of you who are driving on them at 20MPH please take note).

I have various friends who are snowed in. One of the says 'Sheffield is currently closed and it is still bloody snowing'....

West of Swindon just a 1/2 inch or so, schools open, but slippy where yesterday's snow froze overnight. Sunday is looking better for boats here, too...

No snow in Reading or Oxfordshire.  Small lakes down by Dorchester (nr. Abingdon) are starting to freeze over quite significantly.  Guessing they wont be sailing till this freeze is over.

@simonrh - thanks for that post.  I'm headed in that direction in the next two hours.
