All,

I have got a 8.1 sail that is a little dirty does any one have any ideas on how to clean them and what with without damaging the material.

In the late 1960's I remember my dad putting sails in the bath with "Omo" (washing powder). I can't think this would be a recommended method these days!

hey you can clean them by using any wasing powder....

one of my friend did this and believe me it really works.... so try it and have fun. i am sure this gonna work and you will feel happy after cleaning it

I wouldn't put an 8.1 sail in the washing machine- the laminate panels won't thank you!

Wouldn't washing powder remove the waxy like layer over the
dacron!? Don't do it.

I've seen Bristol sails washing sails with a pressure
washer. Don't know if they then treat the cloth?

Personally I get fairy liquid, water and a car cleaning brush and scrub.

 

not sure it its strong enough but I do it after every sail to keep it shiny (Mylar sail not Dacron so maybe unhelpful?
