It is with great regret that we have to announce the untimely death of Richard Estaugh on Saturday evening. Richard was one of the best known and most successful dinghy sailors this country has seen and he will be sorely missed. As well as being a keen sailor himself he also set up and ran Speed Sails for over 25 years helping thousands of others within the sport.
We have all lost a great friend and our thoughts are especially with his family at this time. Out of respect for Richard’s wishes his family have requested that people don’t send flowers but hope they will consider making a donation to sail4cancer or the RNLI instead. For anyone wishing to attend his funeral, details will be posted on the Speed Sails website as soon as they are available. |

Desperately sad to hear of Richard's death. I didn't know him well, but he seemed like a very decent bloke. I'm sure the sailing community will rally round and offer all the help and support that Richard's family, friends and work mates could wish for.
Richard achieved so much in the sailing world and earned a lot of respect and made a lot of friends along the way. Andy Rice |

Richard Estaugh was an inspiration. His support for our efforts with the
magazine provided us with a boost on many, much-needed occasions. We enjoyed celebrating his successes and valued his comments and thoughts over the years. I am thankful for his life and all it gave to so many, but so very sad at the loss... my deepest sympathies to his family and friends. |
