Just seen an article in the Telegraph (saturday sprts section) that the Yngling has been dropped in favour of a 6m. Is this true?

The blondes say they are to light for the new boat.

Not a 6m, an Elliott 6 Meter (Modified).
Along with a change to match racing from fleet racing.
As to weight, not sure what will be in place in the way of crew weight limits etc. by the time London comes around.

the Elliot 6m was what was used at the Womens Match Racing Worlds this year- apparently commonly used as the boat for Womens match events down under. It's a much "outside" choice than the Yngling was.

Good Match racers need to be adaptable- look at the recent article in Y&Y on the Men's tour to see why

A prize of errr... nothing... for anyone who can tell us what the 'modified' is. Took me a bit of finding...

A lift keel for transportation purposes and other modifications to optimize
the boat for the approved crew weight. Full list of mods to be confirmed by
31st may 2009.
Did indeed take a few more google searches to put together the right
phrase for it to track down the info.

When we had the match racing medal in the Solings it was fleet racing to decide the top 4 then matches to decide the winner.

Is this going to be the same Elliott format?

Hmm it seems strange that they are adopting some classes such as the Elliot 6 (which we don't seem to sail over here) and saying they won't adopt others due to many of the countries not sailing that class, I'm slightly confused by it all to be honest. Can someone enlighten me?
Needs to sail more...
