Hi there - has anyone had any experience of removing decals from gelcoat?

I'm trying to remove the original hobie tiger logos on a 2005 boat and they are proving to be a bit of a b@5t4rd to get off... Is there a good solvent that will help?

an old fashioned razor blade, with one side of the blade dulled scoots along
nicely under the decals without damaging gelcoat.

once it is all off, a bit of solvent will remove any traces of adhesive

Just use a hair dryer to warm up the stickers.  They should peel off nice and easily then.

Would love to make it to Loch Ness - will unfortunately have to put it in the diary for next year, we've got some other training planned in for that weekend!

I find the best way is a hot sunny day. The wifes hair drier on a warm setting a razor blade and accetone for cleaning up the sticky residue.

Basically don't tell the wife what you are doing with her hair drier

Gently heat up the area and then scrape the sticker off.... and clean

Right, so i'll be taking my wife's hairdryer, her nail varnish remover and a razor blade down to the sailing club - lucky she is out tonight or she'll be thinking I'm up to no good again...
