Sounds like a Byte CII would be perfect!

I'd go with the strawberry, a Byte CII sounds about right.
I'd say a Europe would probably be a bit of a handful for a 7 stone boy and definitely too much for a 5 stone featherweight. A laser 4.7 would probably be manageable though and there's a lot of racing for them so that might be worth a look at. |

your budget is plenty for a Byte CII if you buy a Byte with the old rig and upgrade. New supplier soon. 5 stone is right at the bottom, and in anything over a light wind perhaps not quite heavy enough, so as long as shes only going out in light winds with cover she'll be ok, plus she can grow into it. 8 stone will easily handle the CII in almost all weather, just pull on bag loads of downhaul and your away!! |

When I did my RYA Dinghy Instructor course the entire class raced Oppies one day. I am 6'1" and was then 13 stone. And by no means the largest on the course. Hillarious! I sailed with legs dangling over one side, head the other and body squeezed somewhere in between. I couldn't swap sides when I tacked so sailed "head-up" on stbd and "head-down" on port. |

laser 4.7 would probably be good - especially if she's into racing. otherwise for simplicity while sailing: the Byte with the self-depowering rig

She could try the 4.7 I guess, personally I think its unbalanced, all hull and no rig. She might like that though if the more balanced bopats like Pico and Topper feel too tippy for her. Not liking the Topper or Pico at that age/size is getting quite a struggle for alternatives. Maybe look at some of the other small Tupperwares...
