Well now, those buses, they keep on coming, I've now heard a strong rumour from about as reliable a source as they come that there's another 'light' boat about to enter the fray.

Think, out of the Blaze moulds, light with use of carbon, fixed side tubes at 1.90 and an 8.6 sq mtr sail, why? Well it has certain advantages, as well as the centreboard rather than fixed daggers, it is tried and tested and if it doesn't do the business you can always bung in a load of lead and run it as a conventional Blaze with the addition of the bigger sail.

The code name for the boat is allegedly 'Fire' personally I think I would have opted for Blaze Superlight and offered the option to the class to race it and grandfather all the heavy ones, but dinghy is as dinghy does, so we must be thankful for small mercies at least in that the race for weightless is at last with us...

But it's another one I'm adding to my must have a demo list before choosing one of them..

Exciting times we are at last living in...

Doh I knew that's what would happen, it's been leaked on one of 'their' websites I gather, I've only had a verbal 'briefing'...

edit Oh look it's official and no one had noticed...

Sounds like a Blaze on a diet and with a smaller rig...I am sure Mr Lyons will speak up if he feels he needs to.....

Yes YW. Sounds a good plan to me and in some ways "fairer" than racing under PY: you get to pick the boat best  suited to your size, style, commitment and ability to go head to head with broadly similar boats.

A bit like Open Class Racing Sailboards, all broadly similar, racing to a box rule and sail size.

They're going to have to go some to get the Blaze down to anywhere near the Zero weight and probably wont even come close to the Aero, but it is a bigger boat and how long will it be before the Fatbois spot the potential of bunging a Halo rig on it?

Why the smaller rig? Is it narrower. If not, same righting moment but lighter, so why reduce the rig size?

Come on Mike, not like you to be the silent type........
