I was so amazed that it didn't go over and sail a cat I know that you can get to silly angles and get it back.

I honestly I had my hands over my mouth whilst shouting "NO-NO-NO" and backing away from the screen.

Incredible scenes Jeff!

If you look at the video the Emirates helm just manages to stuff it up enough to save the capsize when it is critically balanced on one hull, given that their other boat is not as fast he may just have kept them in the AC !!  Clap

Yes, having resolutely refused to watch the AC as I thought it was boring, I switched on last night for the first time and saw this.  I was also very impressed by the way oracle ground back NZ's lead.  Amazing viewing. I take it all back.
What could possibly go wrong?

My 77 year old father, who is not interested in watching sailboat racing at all (not a sailor), phoned to tell me about this amazing 'Americas Cup' racing he was watching on telly :-)

After the worries of the LVC I've got to say that this is the best AC I've ever seen (and we're seeing more than we've ever been able to before.

Did you know that in all but 10 of the America's Cup regattas, the eventual winner won every single race, so what we're seeing (especially if Oracle continue their resurgence) is an AC rarity - a properly competitive series. The fact that the venue, the boats and the course are so spectacular is just the icing on the cake.

Yesterday I finally got round to reading my copy of Y&Y. Will there be a retraction of some of the editorial comments regarding the coverage in the next issue?

The question is, why is this thread not in the Americas Cup section....
If you look at it in isolation the deltas between the boats aren't massive, it's just at that speed the distances become huge!

Quite. NO said the other day that "100 metres sounds a long way, but in these things it's about 2.5 seconds..."

Didn't post it in there because I just flashed on to my usual page. Also, I don't like cobwebs and echoes.
