A long, long time ago, when the B14 first came to Britain with a fixed bowsprit and all, it was originally called the Exocet. The name was hastily changed to Extrovert, due to someone pointing out that Exocet missiles had sunk ships in the Falklands, and maybe the name was a little insensitive. They then disappeared for a few years before reappearing as the B14.

Personally, I thought that it was an excellent name for a fast, sometimes out of control boat, so I'm really pleased in has made a comeback in the International Moth class. Well done whoever named the latest rocket ship! Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Well I hope he has more joy than me when I tried to trade an entire windsurfing brand called Exocet. It's not a name that inspires wonder in the UK, even today. (And it was French).

and whilst you may have been the head honcho spreadsheet monkey, the guy doing the leg work was/is rather 'marmite' by a number of accounts....  plus it was up against RRD when being wooly was 'cool' rather than being seen as a cash cow to the repairer industry every time the boards tapped shingle.

On the missile theme, there is also the Skud, the Tomahawk (prototype with the ventilating foil) and the Trident chandlery.

That's what I get as soon as I mention to Mrs B the prospect of a new boat.

On the subject of missile names that could be used for boats, how about the "Sea Slug". It was one of ours but it wasnt really up to much, but then the name didnt really help, but there are a few boats out there that the name would fit quite nicely.

aliteration is good... but I'd avoid 'S's and '5's at the moment.

on the subject of boat names, I think I want to wake up tomorrow, have lost 20kgs through some online miracle meds and own one of those new rocket moths from aardvark...

I'd call it 'The Happy Ending'  LOL

Maybe when we had the upgrade instead of just adding an 'X' we should have gone for
'Storm Shadow'......

Oh, hold on, it's that 'S' issue again d'oh!
