Hi all,

At school, I have been writing something called an extended project, which is a project about anything you choose, in the form of a question.....one which you answer, so I have chosen to embark on the challenge of (with the help of surveys of course) of what is the world's favourite sailing dinghy?
The survey can be found here:

Many thanks, in advance,

Max

That is a very uk centric view, you have not even listed the most numerous dinghy.

Sorry - Thank you very much, for the point in the right direction. On a side note, I am English myself, so I have only written about what I have seen. All comments will be gratefully received...

Sorry, for missing out the most numerous dinghy - I will amend my essay, and include it, in what I have written. Also there (as you may have seen - in the survey) the option, to select 'other', so if your most favourite dinghy is not included, then you can choose what you want, by writing it in the box.

And lastly, this is just a survey for people to choose what their most favourite dinghy is, not one which the feel is the worlds most popular. Perhaps I should have made that clear.

Sorry again, and many thanks,

Max

Hornet on the list? Get a grip on reality Max. There's probably 100s of classes which should come before the Hornet in terms of popularity. It looks more a Max's Favourite Dinghies list than a World's Favourite Dinghies to me  Wink

Oh and "most favourite" is appallingly bad grammar.
Best wishes from deep in the woods

It's a bit of a duff question.
How do I know what the 'world' considers to be its favourite dinghy?
Most of the 'world' has zero interest in dinghies so does not really have a favourite.

You could say the Hobies or Sunfish are the favourite, in the sense of numbers sold, but OTOH, the 18ft skiff is one of my favourites, although I don't and will never have one.

Hi SB,

Sorry about that, I am not the best at grammar!

I should have clarified, these are not a list of my most favourite dinghies, but a list of the dinghies of which I actually know a few facts about....if there are enough 'other' votes for another class, then I plan to learn about that class, and include it in my essay - take an example: I know almost nothing about the sunfish, hence why I didn't include it, however, now people have voted it enough, and talked about it (on here), I plan to put it in my final essay. You see, this is the use of the 'other' part of the survey, so I can learn more about other dinghies, (which didn't cross my mind in the original draft) and put them in the essay. If you see what I mean?

Also, although there might not seem it, but there is (at least in my opinion) a difference between 'favourite' and 'popular'.

Best wishes,

Max

Hi RS400atC,

The idea is to take what people consider to be their favourite dinghy, not to consider what the world considers to be the worlds favourite dinghy, I apologise as I sadly did not get this message across. And from this, hopefully (rather than from my biased view - as you can probably tell from the options of the survey) take a rather more generalised view of what the world considers its favourite dinghy....

Best wishes,

Max

The "confusion" might arise thanks to the topic title...

The best dinghy in the world has to be the one that has sold the most so surely its the hobbie 16 that wins hands down
