I know I could ask this question to the insurance company but I don't want to get their heckles up until I know what is likely to happen. If two boats have a port-starboard incident and need repairing and the non-fault boat claims off of the insurance of the boat at fault, would repairing both boats be classed as one claim or two claims? It's the difference between £350 excess and £700 excess at stake here. |

In my experience only one excess would apply.

AIUI- one excess from the person claiming liability. I'm assuming it's amicable btw?

Thanks for the replies. It's all amicable, nobody was injured which is the main thing.

There's always grey boundaries (inevitably I'm afraid) but as a rule of thumb;
- It's a single excess if it happens at the same time (no matter how many vessels involved or what the extent of the damage). - Two times excesses will be charged when two separate incidents happen (even if both are on the same day/ involve the same vessel).
