I'm in a similar position - 70kg and no expert! Anything over F3 starts to get me worried and ive never got to grips with the lasers 'sheet-caught-on-the-transom' thing.....so i got a Lightning368.
Great little boat.
Runs off 1152 and is a nice & easy little bandit in the light stuff, fast feeling as breeze rises...plenty of exciting 'splashage' when it gets on the plane...and, here's the thing...VERY sturdy (mine is 32yrs old and is still solid). There's usually a few on the class website. Won't cost you a fortune - well under a grand for a decent one with trolley & trailer usually. If you can get a modified 'podded' version (thwart taken out) then all the better.

arghhhh don't do it.
Europe, Sail nicer look nicer, Are nicer easy! or if you want more sail against Laser Radial, you get the hang of not catching the back in Gybes pretty quickly. |
