hi, whats the better boat and why, i am looking for
something with a bit of speed, easy to keep, i am not a
great sailer so don,t want anything that tips over all the
time, will be using on the sea. crew weight around 24 to 25
stone. which is the better dinghy the rs vision or the
laser 2000.

we have the vision as a club boat and I would much rather have a laser 2000.  The vision is heavy and tippy, I really wouldn't want to sail one on the sea and I love sea sailing!

I once said that the Vision was the worst dinghy I ever sailed. That might have been an exaggeration in the heat of the moment (but even on reflection it's hard to think of a worse one I've sailed - I've not actually sailed any of the Topper rotomoulds).

But the Vision has a horribly heavy helm, and heavy mainsheet load, and was simply totally unsatisfying.

The L2000 is a much nicer boat, once you've accepted that it has far too much built-in buoyancy and thus inverts completely as soon as you capsize unless you're very quickly onto the centreboard. Just reckon that you'll need to sail around with a big float at the masthead.
