Hi I have a boat I am hoping to sell as I was in the same position as you last year. (I am selling not because my som (3yrs) isn't interested - other circumstances force sale). Boat- Topper cruz classic. It's a nice stable 14 footer that sails well. assymetric, oars and out board. it has a aluminium centreboard so is stable. I bought because I wanted to introduce my son to sailing without 'scaring' him... am not sure plugging youngster straight into oppy's and racing circuits/teams is a great idea.... best do family stuff and pottering myself may be a little racing. Also the boat's versatile - oars/outboard. reefing so can do multiple things with it and you don't need to get family all dressed on neoprene just to sailing. also it's not a racing boat like a 400/200 where water can come in over the stern and feet get wet. plenty space and safe sailing. PM me if interested.
Cheers fin

I Just love spending time with my little girl, with number 2 almost here (well it bloody should of been here 5 days ago) I am cherishing the thought of time on the river with my little girl in our pink mirror. Picnics and Daddy time make it exciting for her, which is great as with work commitments growing daily i struggle to see her in the mornings or evenings, which leads to many a sobbing phone call from her. Whilst the new baby needs only its mother, me and the girl will go sailing! Sheer Bliss.

As long as you don't pull THAT face when she's in the boat with you.

Not when she is in the boat with me Steve, I only pulled that face upon seeing your rump hanging over the side of a 3 covered in Neoprene!

Tie the boat to a long line in a foot of water near the
shore, walk up and down towing her (no rig)... progress from there at her pace remember: even much older children have short attention spans at that age she learns by playing so ashore is nearly as good as on the water. you need 10 good experiences to negate a bad one. For older children the social side is more important than the sailing. |
