RYA / Sailracer PY Returns Scheme

   Wilsonian SC has been making regular returns to this ( http://www.pys.org.uk/ ) for a year or so now. Be nice to think we're making a contribution to more effective updating of the PY numbers, and one bonus was that we did not need to make the usual annual return last year, saving a bit of work.
The 'recommended PY's' we've got back from the scheme inevitably look a bit like personal handicaps in some cases, as they will if you only have a few people racing each class, which explains why our Standard Laser has a slower figure than the Radial! But hopefully such anomalies will iron out in the great mass of returns made by other clubs.
Lots of other clubs seem to be involved too, and surely it's the way forward. How are people getting on with it?

	Thornbury SC are up and running on the new system, although to be honest I havnt updated the last series of 2009 yet. Certainly when I last dumped our results on it, the system was a bit clunky but I got there and the numbers being suggested back dont appear to be a million miles away from where my manual returns were getting me. Its definately the way forward, just needs the user interface ironing out.

	If I understand this system correctly, it's is being used to compile the general PY figures. It also offers a PY suggestion for specific clubs boats and their waters. Quote from the ~~sailwave~~ Sailracer website: This would mean that the club rating for an Optimist racing in rough seas off Brighton would be different from one sailing on a small lake in the Midlands.
