Off topic but since you asked - They dont run at once so theres no extra 'overhead'. The short answer is that they are each good at different things. For example I run a lot of resource intensive programs (rendering and CFD code mostly) so my XP partition is 64bit and completely stripped back to try and squease as much performance out as possible but its otherwise rubbish (very little driver support etc). I spend most of my time at the moment running linux but its a M**rosoft world and its hard to get by without a 'normal' windows setup.

...aaaand thanks for making me feel horrifically geeky.

no I'm the one who shoul d be sorry for asking as I was (cringe) genuinely interested! eek!

Not sure, tbh. There were a couple of links on the Kaspersky site which downloaded a tools in zip files. The first one didn't seem to do anything but the second one did the business.

I think if I did anything like this again, I would definitley check for and download any removal tools prior to AV install just in case....I felt a bit uncomfortable being on line and downloading stuff without AV in place.
