Assuming that each row of dinghies starts at the opening to the compound and the last boat in each row is up against the fence at the end of the compound, the two end spaces will take pretty much any length boat assuming you have sufficient room to swing the boat in.
I'm guessing the committee might not be too happy with this but to limit the size of boat to 4.25m is pretty tough. If they can't accomodate your boat I would take it up with the committee and ask them to consider how to improve the facilities to enable certain popular boats to be accepted. Perhaps gather a petition from club members who would like to change boats to something bigger but the rule currently prevents them. Edited by craiggo |

well the main compound is for bigger boats ( max 4.25) then bit why boats need to get through is the second compound for lasers, byte's etc which is smaller. we have a small club and limeted funds and are currently trying to get a grant tto improve space in the compound and facilities matt |

Sounds like a certain club near me that has a good fleet of Solo's. As the committee there is (in my opinion) very short sighted they have bought in a rule that limits the length of the boat. The problem is that there is 1 length for single handers and another for double handers. The upshot of this is that the club I sail as has gained a few members who want to sail something slightly different. The most ridiculous of was that guy who purchased a Supernova to be told his boat was 2 inches too long to sail at the club so he would either have to sell it or leave the club (no surpise he chose to leave the club). Not surprisingly the other club is not doing so well these days whereas at my club we are bursting at the seams! |
