In the days of global warming being a threat and such. Can sailing stuff be recycled? I have an old pair of boots sitting in the house, can they be reused in some way or just binned. Also, what do people do with their old sails? or is the garage stacked full of them?.

Old boots are ideal as padding while transporting, protecting the cover from the end of the boom, protecting the end of the boom from the cover... and so forth...

i have seen this done and apparently it works a treat. old buoyency aids also make great padding for ratchet straps (cut two slits in the outer skin and pass the strap in (under the skin) and then out the other slit and the padding never falls off

EBAY all the way!

Must admit, people buy what we call rubbish and pay money. If not gumtree or the local paper! you never know, someone may do a project and need stuff.

www.freecycle.org is worth a look. To join the club you have to "give" something away before you can start picking up stuff. Seems like a good idea.
