Personally I hate steamers.  I'd rather wear a drysuit, and that's saying something.  Normal longjohns, mid layer and aquafleece are nearly always enough when combined with warm gloves, boots and a fleece hat.

When I was 8 I made the mistake of putting my (ungloved) cold wet hands in front of an electric fire.  Never again.  Oh the pain!!!

Properly toasty especially with a thermal rasky under it- the zhik or magic fleecy lined ones are very good I spent about 25mins in the water getting the main down on friday after it came out the track and after half and hour the fleece top underneath was drying in patches (the zhik one)

mate you were properly shivering... but hey, it wouldn't be appropriate to 'give you a ribbing'....

tbh- it was properly windy, I only lasted about 3 minutes before I pi$$ed it and limped back to shore.

Hell apart from my hands that was quite warm! And if i hadnt stood about on the shore for so long Id have been fine  And you did pretty well to survive as far as you did

Villan as you know i just wear a long wetsuit, hikers then loads of layers of tshirts and a spray top,and a BA of course!. yet to feel the cold.  and warmer than others that wear full on sailing gear who are complaining they are cold while im boiling!

*cough*

Make that my hikers! ( You still havnt given me anything for them yet! )

I'm used to the whole layering of wetsuit / hikers / rashie / spraytop ... but am looking for something a bit warmer for days I am more likely to go swimming.

( And sorting kit for after the fireballs sail ( Contender!! ) )

Cheers all for the info.

Villan, why are you so familiar with the rats clothing preferences?
