is this thread turning into dinghy racings version of "defend the indefensible"? - it's no good solving PY problems properly, this is THE subject that's kept sailors happy at bars around this great nation for decades , think of sailing club profits, think of the hollow feeling that will come from realising you came 32nd out of 33 because you sailed badly, think of the mid fleet guys who'll have to admit to themselves that they wouldn't have won  "if that bl%%dy Merlin/Phantom/Solo/Blaze/RSxxx/49er/14" wasn't handicapped so "badly" ..... it could be the end of swinging the lead in the bar as we know it

 - what's next kill-joys - you gonna sort out IRC and ruin the yachties fun too?!?!?!

Let's face it, we'll never agree - there are times when if you're half decent and you get the right conditions you can sail a particular boat well over it's handicap but the thing is, handicap racing is the only solution for smal dinghy clubs (who can't force members to buy a particular class of boat for one-design racing) so we'll just have to live with it, accept it, and enjoy it for what it is.

You want non PY racing?  Get a class with popular appeal and a good traveller series we are thoroughly spoilt for choice in the UK for these
Feeling sorry for vegans since it became the latest fad to claim you are one
