<quote>Why not get an RC Laser and join an already big fleet? <quote>

The MM is quite new on the scene, it is just a matter of time before it will be the biggest sailing class in Europe.

The boat sails better, gives you more sailing pleasure than any RC sailing boat there is. Although the price and size is ridiculous, don't judge it before you have raced it. You will be addicted to sailing it before you know it. I can tell, because I started the whole thing in Holland with the website http://micromagic.nl in 2001 as a joke beside the real sailing I do in the real Laser and J22. We almost reach 1900 boats registred now in Holland and there are fleets in Germany, Spain, Switserland, Portugal, Belgium and France. In the UK the MM-fever has just started: http://sailuk.org

MM sailing is the cheapest and easiest sailing there is and the races around the cans are hot. Cold? put on your foul weather-gear and continue sailing in the winter. That is the time when we in Holland have our winterseries with 40 races and our nationals in the beginning of April. The MM wil come: join the fun!

Beware of RC boats on e-bay.
There is a lot of rubbish, if not the boat a lot of the radios are suspect.
Stick with well known and supported Classes.

Sadly, in my experience if it's too cold to sail a dinghy, it's too cold for RC yachting too unless you can do it from indoors

We did just that last weekend.

Bit of a sweeping statement Javelin !

best way to promote your class is not to dis others ,

rc lasers must be biggest racing class in uk now with nearly 700 registered for racing and god knows how many more unregistered , many hundreds !

If new, probebly nothing. If 2nd hand, buyer beware. Problem is, we often buy things of ebay without ever going to look at them, which generally we don't do otherwise. RC products have a lot that can go wrong.

My point about some of the boats on ebay was directed at some of the kits that come from the far east. Whilst the kits are generally of good quality the sailing performance in some cases is questionable and to keep their costs down the radio equipmet is also not up to UK satndards.

The laser is a great boat and there is good racing and in the scale of things, using a racing car analogy,
I'd say the Marblehead is F1, (£1000 + for a competitive setup)
the 1 meter is F3, (£600 + for a competitive setup)
the RC Laser is Touring Car Champs (£400 + for a competitive setup)
the Micro Magic is karting. (£150 + for a competitive setup)

All great boats, all offering great racing, support and advice.
You pays your money and you takes your choice.
