The general consensus from earlier threads was that the boat was too far ahead of it's time, in design and performance. I personally thought it was a bit of a pain to rig and de-rig and simple things like cleats angled wrongly made the boat harder to use. Also the upwind speed was not that great, but it certainly makes up for it downwind.

i saw one the other weekend in Chichester harbour. didn't see it much when it was going downwind but i can see what you mean about the design. very odd hull shape. it didnt look very special upwind though.

The cams on the pocket luff can be an arse sometimes. I've moded mine
with velco straps and a hole in the luff pocket. There's nothing wrong with where fittings are. Going up wind it's about as fast to the mark as other hiking boats of similar size although you are best going for speed rather than pinching as the foils stall easy. Hence you get there at the same time having traveled slightly further. The Hull shape is mega. Very narrow but still reasonable stable because of low freeboard and wing shape. But it isn't the best boat in chop. Low freeboard and flexiable rig means it is difficult to get it going unless it is windy. And sometime the waves can drag out the kite if you don't keep it totaly flat. BUT OFF WIND IT IS TOTALLY MENTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh and make sure you back stay the mast with the main sheet tension off wind. But you have so much apparent most of the time the mains in hard anyway. |
